Krisztina David - CV

I am Krisztina David, Hungarian lyric coloratura soprano. I was born in Budapest, Hungary. I graduated from the Cant Art Academy of Music in Budapest as a pupil of the internationally recognized great soprano Sylvia Sass. I continued my studies as a student of the Studio of the Operetta Theatre Budapest. I also participated in master classes held by Joan Sutherland, Julia Hamari, and Krisztina Laki. In 2000 I was the winner of the Viadukt Singing Competition.

After my debut at the Rock Theatre of Budapest, playing the role of Cosette from Schönberg’s Les Miserables, I became the soloist of the Operetta Theatre Budapest, where I sang several major roles.

In the Hungarian State Opera House I made my debut in the role of Papagena. My favorite role performed was Violetta from Verdi’s La Traviata.

I sang Zerlina in the Young Artist Summer Festival in Budapest, directed by Sylvia Sass.

As a guest artist I has been invited regularly to Spain, Austria, Germany and Switzerland, where I had marvelous concerts conducted by Prof. Herbert Prikopa. I am frequently invited to give concerts also in the United States, Washington.

In 2006, I was given the honor of performing the main parts of Verdi’s La Traviata at the Hungarian Opera Ball.

In 2007 I was asked to be a host, alongside Peter Poor, for a monthly music show on Budapest TV, where a long interview could also be seen with me.

I was the star guest of Cologne Radio’s Kreuder Gala; Danko Radio broadcast my interview accompanied with my musical recordings over 7 days in 2013.

For several years I have been a member of the company of Memory Interoperett, where I sing the main coloratura arias of the opera and operetta literature. I am a permanent soloist of the annual New Year Galas, broadcast by most European countries TV channels. At home I can often be seen in the “Kivansagkosar” TV request show.

I have 2 solo albums, both recorded in the Studio of Hungarian Radio. The first was accompanied by the Hungarian Radio Orchestra conducted by Janos Kovacs. On the second I was partnered by Zoltan Neumark. I can also be seen on several concert DVDs. Recently I have been working on my 3rd solo album to be released in 2016.
